The Wingman Extra Story

In April 2020 we met fellow pilot and filmmaker, Leigh Hubner.  He told us about a project he was working on and he was looking for some like-minded individuals to join him on this journey.  Once we heard the details, we knew right away that we wanted to support him on this unique endeavor.  Now, more than a year later, that journey has reached a major milestone and Wingman is excited to introduce the WINGMAN EXTRA!

This aircraft is the original EXTRA 300S built for and flown by aerobatic pilot, Patty Wagstaff, and featured in the 1990’s Microsoft flight simulator software, the very same software that inspired Leigh and his passion for flying.  For the past 20 years, this aircraft sat idle and in pieces until Leigh acquired it.  His goal was to ready it once again, not just for flight but for all the aerobatic rigors it was designed for.

Now, after countless hours spent on the restoration project, it’s TIME…  Time to inspire again.

Beginning in April 2021, Leigh will be flying the Wingman Extra with the same passion and precision it has taken to revive it.  He’ll be performing the very same lines, loops, rolls, spins and hammerheads that are embedded in the DNA of this storied aircraft.   Wingman is proud to have supported Leigh on this adventure and we look forward to having his back as he continues his flying career, inspiring the next generation of pilots along the way.
